10 Ways to Autumn-Up Your Coffee

Out of context, it probably sounds mad talking about autumn in August. To add some context, I saw a yellow leaf yesterday. I fell asleep to a thunderstorm and woke up this morning craving a blackcurrant tea.

Autumn is officially on it's way!

To help get you that autumn vibe, I thought I might suggest a few ways to spice (literally) up your morning coffee:

  1. Add a spoonful of spice - cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice and ginger all work wonderfully

  2. If you're after a warming kick, sprinkle in a few chilli flakes

  3. If you're fantasizing about hot chocolate but need a little more caffeine, you could always add some cacao or cocoa to your warming cup of Joe

  4. If you've already got some autumnal drinks around, maybe add a tablespoon - cherry juice, liqueur and apple cider can give you a much-needed seasonal boost

  5. Have flavoured tea bags lying around? Try brewing a cup and then making your coffee with that rather than just water

  6. Try melting a few squares of your favourite chocolate into your mug

  7. Get creative with extracts! Vanilla, almond, and orange can all give your mug a flavour boost

  8. If you need a sweet brew, maybe spice it up using liquid sweeteners (added health benefits with this one!) - maple syrup or honey could be just what you need

  9. Top off your coffee with flavoured milk - it's a perfect shortcut for getting a homemade flavoured latte that suits your dietary requirements and has far less sugar than the average coffee shop cup

  10. Use coconut milk as your creamer for an indulgent and warming mug

That's all for my suggestions! I'd love to hear your thoughts - is there anything here you've tried or will be trying? Or maybe you have a few coffee hacks of your own? Either way, I'd love to hear from you!
